Description Japanese Gyokuro tea Origin: Uji, Kyoto, Japan Content: 50 g Instructions: Traditionally Gyokuro tea is made to taste the tea on your tongue rather than drinking a lot so we prepare in a small cups (size of sake cup). The following instruction is one example. If you do not have a teapot I’d recommend to use a small jug or measuring cup to brew and drain with a strainer, rather than tea infuser so the tea leaves can open up fully to brings out all the flavour. For a hot drink: Water temperature: 50 degrees Brewing time: 2 minutes Preparing the tea cups: Warm the teapot and tea cups by pouring boiling water into teapot then into tea cups, then transfer them back to teapot (by doing the temperature goes down by 10 degrees each time you transfer the hot water). If you have more hot water in the teapot than you need for your cup/s you keep the water in another pot or jug for the 2nd brew to have exact amount of hot water for the 1st brew. 1. Put 1 tablespoon (4g) per person of Gyokuro tea in a small tea pot 2. Add 20ml of hot water (50 degrees) 3. Simmer for 2 minutes before pouring in a cup until the last drop You can enjoy 2nd and 3rd brewing without waiting since leaves are already opened. For a cold drink: Put 1 table spoon (4g) per person of Gyokuro tea in a small tea pot, add 700ml of water and leave for several hours until the taste becomes to your liking. You can also add ice cubes. Adjust the amount of Gyokuro tea or water according to your liking. Here is a video to show you how to make this tea properly. Keep in a cool, dry and dark place.
